The last time I photographed this beautiful house, in April 2025, it was inhabited by a Syrian family. Two million refugees in Lebanon—it’s complicated. Being a refugee is complicated. Do we really have a choice? They settled in this abandoned palace, covering the gaping windows with their blankets and bits of plastic, and no doubt they sip coffee on that splendid balcony. It’s the paradox of a life one didn’t choose, yet somehow settles into—for how long, no one knows...
This little palace is in the Zokak el Blat neighborhood, the first paved district of Beirut, dating back to 1860.
- Painted on Arches paper, 300g
- Comes with passepartout and a glass, ready to be framed - Photo with frame shown as example
- We do not replace the glass if broken during transportation eventhough we pack very carefully. The glass can be easily replaced at low cost.
