Original Watercolor and Collage Peace

When I started this collage, I really didn't know which direction to go. Tormented by the constantly received images of violence, worried about my family and friends being totally demoralized and exhausted in Lebanon, I was looking for a way to clear my head. Quite naturally, vibrant colors appeared, then collages which ultimately turn out to be symbolic: The lion lying at the feet of a princess who only dreams of flowers, the 'salamalecs' (bows and greetings) of friendly conspirators, the man who quietly drinks from the fountain, and a profusion of spring flowers. Gold dust falls from one of the arches and suddenly peace is there. So I naturally called this painting "Peace" because from the power of colors springs a deep calm, a desire to surround oneself with beauty, as if to calm the world's conspiracy.
