You can read this watercolor from right to left or left to right. It tells the story of an arched house in Beirut, born from my imagination — and it's unclear whether it is heading toward destruction or rebirth. It invites us to dream of what once was and what may be: do we still have the will to revive beauty, or are we already powerless in the face of time’s ravages?
I wanted to treat this watercolor in three dimensions, adding even more depth and realism to the architecture. On the left, marquetry elements symbolize a decaying ceiling, with crumpled paper and blackened walls. In the center, things begin to soften. On the right, floral scrolls highlight painted decor in gentle shades of pink.
